Human Services Sector

Exploration of Health Sciences & Medicine is a scientific, inquiry-based course that aims to advance your understanding of patient care, human physiology, disease process, research and ethics. In addition to gaining basic clinical skills, you will also receive advanced instruction from medical experts gaining medical skills to help further your understanding of medical diagnosing and treatment protocols for the patient.

Real-world Projects

Work on projects for public health-related businesses, including working with the American Lung Association to promote tobacco awareness in the middle schools, working on website content for major hospitals, and working with Des Moines University professors to compile data and make graphs for grant writing processes. We partnered with Prevent Blindness Iowa (PBI) to certify students to be able to conduct vision screenings with preschoolers and elementary school age students.

Enhance & Learn
