As an APEX student associate, I have had the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to real-life scenarios. The APEX program gives student associates an opportunity to experience and work in the professional world. Being able to apply something to a project that was launched into reality is really important to me.
Currently, I am an associate for the Next Generation Energy class of the Engineering sector in APEX. So far throughout the semester, I’ve managed a project for the Heartland Area Education Agency regarding energy storage solutions for both large scale commercial projects and residential installations. During this project I managed a team of 4 student associates as we researched energy distribution infrastructure, expandable power storage solutions, and principles of electricity. Our work has been published online and is accessible to K-12 students across the state of Iowa. This project is just one of several ways I’m adding value back to the community. I’m also currently working on several solar site evaluations to determine if it would be a good investment for a client to install solar modules on their home.
APEX is an amazing opportunity for associates to develop technical and professional skills. It has helped me grow tremendously as a professional, and I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone. I cannot wait to see what APEX has in store for semesters to come.
