Before entering the APEX program, I had very little idea of what I wanted to do when I grow up. Graphic design has always been an interest of mine, but I’ve never known how even to start learning the basics. In the three short weeks that I have been a part of the APEX program, it has been an experience that has changed the way I look at my future, and the tour of the Performance Marketing business has played a significant role in that.
The building as a whole impressed me from the very start. The glass walls and open meeting areas to promote teamwork and collaboration was something that I thought was super cool and made me want to be apart of something so open someday.
Not only did the building impress me, but the people and its work were what excited me the most. The first few days of DCS we traveled to multiple stations. At those stations, workers with different jobs walked through their daily work. A few things we got an insight into was: social media and marketing based, graphic design, web design, and project management. I caught myself thinking numerous times throughout the day saying, “Wow I didn’t know this could be a job!”. The information the workers shared interested me so much. The ones I enjoyed were the Social Media and the project management because I loved the branding that goes into marketing. I also enjoyed the organization and overseeing all the small details for project management.
Coming into APEX not knowing what I should pursue as a career when I’m older…to getting so excited to come to APEX every day in just three weeks makes me excited for what my future has in store. I hope to job shadow with Performance Marketing and gain as much experience as possible so I can someday work in a place as cool as this.
