During APEX (Exploration of Health Science and Medicine),  I was able to educate fourth graders in the Waukee School District about what diabetes is and how to prevent type II diabetes. Through this program, I was given the opportunity to work with Dallas County Public Health and the American Diabetes Association to help these organizations achieve their goals. Personally, for this project I gained complex communication, organization, and productivity skills. Type II Diabetes is becoming more and more common in America. Let’s stop the epidemic through education.
