The Actuarial Foundation announced Waukee APEX Foxtrot as a finalist in the 2020 Modeling the Future Challenge! After extensive review from a judging panel of actuaries across the industry, 11 teams were selected to participate in the Modeling the Future Challenge Symposium.
The Waukee APEX Foxtrot team members are:

This year’s Modeling the Future Challenge was incredibly competitive with 170 teams taking on the Challenge to model how changing temperatures, droughts, floods, and other severe weather events could cause major upheavals to many industries across the country and make recommendations on how the industry and government can respond in order to mitigate and manage the potential risks.
Teams first had to pass a qualifying round of scenario response topics to demonstrate their mathematical acumen. Semi-finalists were then paired with actuary mentors who helped guide the students as they did research, data analysis and drafted their final papers.
The Foundation will host these finalists at the Modeling the Future Challenge Symposium to connect with actuaries, present their projects, and compete for up to $55,000 in college scholarships!
