Waukee APEX program welcomed a new Medical and Bioscience Research instructor to the team for the 2022-23 school year. Jared Almandinger came to our team from the West Des Moines School District, where he spent his first two years teaching physical science.
Prior to teaching, Jared graduated from Central College in 2020 with degrees in Biology and Secondary Education. He shared what most excited him about his new position with APEX is the ability to facilitate professional and research based opportunities for high school students that can seldom be found elsewhere at this age. He feels that these opportunities serve as a springboard for our student associates, leading them on a pathway to success.
In his free time, you can catch Jared doing anything outdoor related such as camping, traveling, and running. During the time when he is at the WILC, but not in class, you can usually find him challenging student associates to a game of chess.
If you have any questions about our Medical and Bioscience Research course, or are interested in exploring partnership opportunities, please reach out at jalmandinger@waukeeschools.org.
Welcome to the team, Jared!
