The Waukee Innovation and Learning Center welcomed 4 new faculty members for the 2023-2024 school year.
Carrie Eby is our new Exploration of Exercise and Sport Science instructor. She joins our team from Prairieview School in Waukee, where she spent the last 14 years teaching Physical Education. Carrie graduated from The University of St. Thomas with a B.A. in Physical Education and Health and earned her Master’s Degree through Morningside. Carrie is most looking forward to working with students to help them find their passion and give them opportunities to pursue projects that can potentially be career-seeking. In her free time she coaches softball and stays active by running, playing basketball and riding bikes.

Whitney Overton joins us from Johnston CSD as our new CNA Instructor and building nurse. She graduated from the University of Iowa with her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She is looking forward to building relationships with students in a smaller setting this semester and beyond. She enjoys bike riding, knitting, and home remodeling. She also enjoys shopping for mid-century modern furniture and decor.

Tim Murphy joins our team as the new School-to-Work Coordinator for Waukee High School students. Before this role, he taught Business Education at WHS for 10 years. He has a B.A. from University of Northern Iowa, his M.S. from the University of Central Missouri and his M.A. from the University of South Dakota. He is most looking forward to working with the same group of students for an entire year while helping them grow as professionals. In his free time he coaches football and enjoys attending a variety of sporting events.

Adam Werley is taking on a section of Intro to Education in the spring. He is excited to work with young people who are considering education as a future career path. He currently teaches English at Waukee Northwest High School, and taught for 14 years at Waukee High. He enjoys cooking, gardening, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and crafting with his daughter.
