Fall 2023 semester kicked off our 10th year of the Waukee APEX program. Teams partnered with over 200 business partners to explore career paths through project work, tours and guest speakers, job shadows and informational interviews. These partnerships allowed student associates to complete over 130 projects for businesses and community members, each providing unique learning experiences to help our student associates explore a variety of career pathways, post- high school.
Along with these learning opportunities, Waukee APEX added another course to
the lineup. APEX Automotive completed its first semester with the partnership of Stivers Ford Lincoln and DMACC. Student associates worked through the Ford ACE Training program and got hands-on experience on the floor at Stivers. They also toured a variety of community partners in the automotive industry to gain knowledge about different opportunities after graduation. Thank you to GATR, Ken Garff Dealerships, Paragon, Stew Hansen and Willis Automotive for making the first semester of the program so successful!
We celebrated the first semester’s accomplishments at our bi-annual Waukee APEX Showcase. We had over 650 visitors to the Waukee Innovation and Learning Center. Guests participated in interactive displays, spoke with APEX student associates, and networked with various business and college partners.
